Distribution: Occurring in the North Cascades in Washington; Alaska to California; east to the Rocky Mountains, northern Great Plains, and east to Newfoundland; circumpolar.

Habitat: Alpine meadows.

Flowers: May-August

Description:
General:

Scapose, pubescent annual 3-25 cm. tall.

Leaves:

Leaves in a single rosette, oblanceolate, 1-3 cm. long, entire to denticulate, sparsely to densely hairy with simple or forked hairs.

Flowers:

Scapes usually many, 1-10 cm. long, from nearly glabrous to densely hairy with fine, branched hairs; inflorescence of 3- to 25-flowered umbels, with narrow, involucrate bracts 3-6 mm. long; pedicels slender, 1-5 cm. long, the outer ones strongly curved; calyx top-shaped, 2.5-4 mm. long, the 5 lobes deltoid, much shorter than the tube; corolla white, slightly longer than the calyx; stamens 5, included; ovary superior, style single.

Fruits:

Capsule, nearly globose.
